COVID-19: 52 test positive in J&K, tally rises to 1621 | KNO

No pendency of samples now at SKIMS, says Nodal officer

Srinagar, May 24 (KNO): At least 52 people tested positive for the Covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday taking the total number of positive cases in the Un ion Territory to 1621. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that among new 52 new cases that were detected in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday 47 were tested positive at SKIMS and rest army's command hospital Udhampur. Among 52 new cases, 30 belong to Kashmir division while as 22 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 1360 including 734 recoveries and 19 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 261 including 75 recoveries and 2 deaths. They added that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 791 including 607 from Kashmir division and 184 from Jammu division. "Cases tested positive in J&K include 1 from Anantnag, 26 from Kulgam and one each from Baramulla, Shopian and Kupwara in Kashmir division while as 22 from Jammu including 6 from Jammu, 4 from Kuthua, 2 from Udhampur, 7 from Samba district and 3 from Rajouri," officials revealed. Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for covid-19 at SKIMS told KNO  that all pending 5500 samples were tested at virology lab till 12 PM on Sunday and among them 47 were tested positive. He further added that among 47 new cases, 25 are from Kulgam, 20 from Jammu and 01 each from Baramulla and Shopian. There is no pendency of samples now at SKIMS which was over 10 thousand, 3 days before. Officials said that among the positive persons from Kulgam include 7 from Karewa, 13 from Chatabal, 3 from Panipora and 2 from Avil. Officials from Baramulla said that that new case is a 24-year-old male from Rafiabad, Baramulla with travel history Delhi and officials from Shopian said that new case is a 26-year-old lady from Vehil Shopian. Lt Col Inam Danish Khan from Army's Command Hospital Udhampur said that on Saturday late night 06 travellers including one from. kupwara and 05 from Ramban were found positive. Officials from JVC Bemina said that 120 samples tested at the hospital, none was found positive—(KNO)
